Dear Esteemed Members of the Korean Endocrine Society

I wish you a happy new year and good luck in 2013.

The Korean Endocrine Society, which successfully celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and takes pride in its long history, is now confronting the challenges of both qualitative and quantitative growth.

As all of our members already know, everyone is in a difficult situation due to the rapidly changing medical environment. However, we shall overcome this crisis by transforming it into an opportunity.

The Journal of the Korean Endocrine Society has developed and reached its current status of Endocrinology and Metabolism (EnM) due to the passionate dedication of many committee members.

Most domestic journals have fallen behind in the competition with international journals and have been disregarded by their members. For EnM to establish its firm position representing the Korean Endocrine Society under such difficult conditions, I think the only way to assure continued success is to transform the publication into an international journal. Thus, the Korean Endocrine Society is now establishing a new goal, aiming to earn a listing in the Science Citation Index (SCI).

This is not intended to show off but was an inevitable decision to become a partner in the international field to assure internal stability for our members and the society itself.

To grow as an international journal, EnM requires the attention and care of the society members.

As a farmer sows seeds silently in anticipation for fall harvest, I cordially invite our members to send your papers for publication in EnM and actively cite previous publications. Your power is our power and vice versa. We will do our best to bear fruits from the dedication of all members and senior professors of the Korean Endocrine Society. We will also be fully committed to informing you of the listing of EnM in the SCI in the near future.

30 Years United toward World and Future!
